The Best Day for a Webinar is Thursday (and Other Webinar Statistics 2019)
As we approach the end of the year, it’s time to reflect on the months that have passed us by, both personally and professionally. Here at MegaMeeting, we thought we’d take the opportunity to dive into the data generated by the customers of our browser-based, video conferencing and webinar platform to see what we could learn. In other words, how do people use our software to communicate with others?
Here’s what we learned.
Webinar attendees are overwhelmingly on Windows
Of all participants in MegaMeeting webinars, a full 80% were using devices running on a Windows OS, with 13% on a Mac OS, 5% on iOS, and just 2% using Android.
Microsoft’s dominance was still present, though severely diminished, when it came to browsers: 45% used Internet Explorer or Edge, while Chrome was in second place with 39%.
Most attendees were on a desktop or laptop computer, with just 7% using mobile or tablet devices to participate in webinars.
Attending a webinar? It’s probably a Thursday afternoon
Our webinar statistics show that the middle of the week is the most common time to hold a webinar, with 19% of all webinars being held on a Thursday. Sunday was the least common day of the week for a webinar, with just 6% of all webinars being held on Sunday.
When it comes to time of day, our webinar hosts preferred to hold webinars in the afternoon: 46% of all webinars were held between noon and 6 PM, with peak usage coming between 2 and 4 PM.
For webinar hosts, this doesn’t necessarily mean that you should hold every webinar at 2 PM on a Thursday. Perhaps this means there’s a hidden market for weekend webinars!
4/5ths of all webinar data is video
The average bandwidth of someone connecting to a MegaMeeting webinar, whether as attendee or host, is 380 Kbps. The lion’s share of that data is high-quality video: 79% of webinar data is video, with the remainder being audio.
You could field a soccer team with most webinar attendees (and have some subs to spare)
Webinars aren’t necessarily huge productions to thousands of attendees around the world. Our webinar statistics show that the average webinar is a more intimate affair: On average, webinars get 16 attendees.
This is a great size to interact one-on-one with your audience, turning interested prospects into potential customers.
